Privacy Policy
This is a template prepared for demonstration. It must be reviewed and adapted by the firm and its legal/compliance adviser before public use.
NotReal ExampleCo Attorneys ("we", "us") respects your privacy and processes your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
Information we collect
When you use our online instruction and quotation tools we may collect your name, contact details (email and mobile number), identity or company registration number, and information about your property transaction. We collect this directly from you.
Why we collect it
We use your information to prepare your quotation, to open and manage your conveyancing matter, to communicate with you, and to meet our legal obligations — including identity verification required under the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA). Providing your information is voluntary, but we cannot act on a transfer without it.
Sharing
We share information only as needed to carry out your transfer — for example with the Deeds Office, the relevant bank or bond attorney, municipalities or body corporates, and the other party's attorney — and where required by law. We do not sell your personal information.
Storage and retention
Your information is stored securely and retained for as long as required to provide our services and to comply with legal and regulatory obligations, after which it is deleted or de-identified.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to its processing, subject to legal limits. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa).
